  1. Monsoons would have gone but still the rain persists, this rain is of corruptions across India. Be it a reality scam of Adarsh society, where the state system in collaboration with various officials exploited the sentiments of Kargil martyrs. Or be it the financial corruption of sharing some part to receive huge financially unviable loans. Be it Games, where Commonwealth Games gave authorized individuals a chance to rape mother nation financially. Or be it the 2G scam, where an individual and his department decides with his whims and fancies for the nation. Every scam has a public player and private player. India is second fastest growing economy, which is attracting private and public players across world to invest in its growth. By these scams it has also shown the world that we can innovate new PPP business model in a huge profit generating stream, Corruption. It shows how omnipresent and systemic it has embedded in the Indian context. To address a systematic issue radical changes are needed, just circumlocuting, tendering resignations would not suffice the cause. It shows the apathy towards common Indians, and more importantly towards Mother Nation India. This was the time where nationalism could have been integrated in the psyche and actions of Indians, but the competent people choosed to travel the other way round. 2G scam incurred a loss of around 28,000 crore as per CAG report. Financial details of it can be debated as if to estimate the price on 3G price basis or not. The larger picture presented was of a Department under GOI bypassing the supreme authority office PMO. If current version of PMO is to be believed then it was not well aware of it, or was it the acumen of DOT to narrowly keep PMO out of happenings. Both scenarios reflect a rosy picture, it can be debated that DOT outsmarted PMO or PMO to remain in PMO let the things happen as it was. Cause and effects are known, what is needed now is urgent tangible action to set a worthy precedent that such actions are unacceptable as once Manmohan Singh said, hope he keeps his words

  2. Today most of us would criticize the 2G scam because of three reasons :
    1.Its a scam.
    2.Its a scam involving politicians.
3.As a common man he/she cannot do anything else but criticize.
In my opinion with time passing, each scam would put all the previous scams to shame because this human greed is increasing exponentially with each passing day so no doubt about the degree of injury each scam happening in future would do to this nation. So I dont think question is really a valid question to be asked from an Indian. Our concern should not be in evaluating which scam is bigger and which one smaller. But our only concern should be ,when will these scams stop. As per me the day we stop criticizing them they will stop. Criticizing gives a feeling of satisfaction to majority , that they have played their part of being a responsible citizen. Stop criticizing and take some concrete steps to; one, teach lessons to the culprits;two, set an example for others. Now on this most would say that being a common person what can he/she do? Rs.480 crore of revenue is being generated each day by our Telecom Sector. Take a pledge and do mobile fasting (dont use your mobile) for one hour each day (Between 9am -9pm)for one week and let media put this across nation as citizens' anger against Operators and then you see what example would be set.

  3. How can a scam be evaluated? Or scams from different time periods, different sectors, involving different people can be compared at all?
I would say NO. As, for example, scams involving different sectors such infamous Fodder scam and much hyped and investigated (or mis-investigated for that matter) Bofors scam cannot be compared. As, the first one involved a wrong doing in civilian sector and the second was related to defence sector. Though, both of the scams were equally big, the one that involved national security was seen as more heinous act of corruption. In terms of money swindled, Madhu Koda scam is probably much bigger than the Adarsh - Kargil for Profit scam, but the emotional attachment of masses to the Martyrs makes later more of a serious nature. Sheer volume of money involved may not make a scam bigger.
2G scam by A Raja, is of course one of the biggest scam in India, looking at the loss incurred by exchequer. As very well noticed by the Apex court of the nation, the minister had bypassed Hon. PM, when allotting the spectrum. He twisted the regulations, manipulated the rules. All things said, are pretty common in any scam, be it 2G, CWG, Adarsh Soc, Kharkhand-Madhu Koda, Karnataka-Yedirruppa. But what is most unfortunate about the 2G scam, is the sheer negligence on part of the PMO and PM himself. As defended by AG in Supreme Court, PM had questioned the auction, before it took place, but Raja overruled PM. How a PM, knowing about a wrong doing, that too on such a large scale, can ever allow a minister like Raja to go ahead with auctioning and allotting spectrums, one of the most scares resources. The inaction by PM and the ruling party raise serious concerns. In the history of India, Apex court asking serious questions to PM, has never happened before. Greed of continuing in power through support form regional parties, has led to the deterioration of the political values to all time low. Yes, this fact makes the 2G scam the most serious in nature.

  4. It is very difficult to answer the question on whether this scam is most shameful for India with due regards to the statement by Supreme Court. My intuition gives thought on what went wrong with us on repeating scams and misshapes especially this year. According to me, we should not rate the scams but yes this is serious concern and should take an appropriate action for the betterment of our system. This is not the first of its kind as we do have several examples from the past to till date. The system allows people to motivate on believing on “Give and Take formula” starting for peon to the all honousrable ministers.
The thought rose to one’s mind not on this scam but the series of scandals like Kochi IPL team, CWG misshape and others. Actually, this kind of events fails the country to make convince the world on being emerging economies or second most developing country. The numbers (here, growth rate and etc) does not speak much until the proper regulation has to be followed and this event overshadows the real development that took place. The same image will get carry forward to the Indian staying abroad and heading responsibility in various MNCs. As few Indians are holding the position of various ministries in different countries. It will difficult for them to prove their loyalty to the process on the selection criteria decided by other government officials.
The Supreme Court might get early to come to the conclusion. This enables minister A Raja to step down from the current position and Kapil Sibal to hold the position with burden of solving the scam while implementing 3G in successful way. The credit for revealing the scam story goes to unsung heroes like Janata Party(not BJP, please go through www.janataparty.org) Chief Mr. Subramanian Swamy, CAG chief Mr Vinod Rai.
The government should take urgent action on not repeating the same kind of event by structuring the exclusive force to fill the loopholes in the system and track the intricacies of various government policies. Immediate actions are become imperative in such case.
